The weather is always a great topic of conversation, along with lake levels. Consensus is that this summer is much cooler and more rainy than last summer (and the few before that). So, I looked up the statistics, 2009 versus 2008, July 1 – 23.
So far this July we’ve recorded a high of 85.3°F, a low of 47.8°, and an average temperature of 64.6°. We’ve received 1.38″ of rain in July.
In July of 2008, the high was 87.6°, the low was 50.2°, and the average was 70.3°. I think the average temperature tells the story. Rainfall in July 2008? 3.40″ — two inches more than we’ve had so far this July. Perhaps last summer it only rained at night.
As far as lake levels (since I mentioned it), Lake Michigan is up 10″ through the end of June, but it seems there may have been an inch or two increase in July.
