Greetings, coffee lover!
Thanks for your enthusiastic response to last month’s newsletter! It doesn’t take much to encourage us, so here we are, back with more news, insight, and a special offer.
Among those who wrote in, Trish noted that it is 98 degrees where she is, but she didn’t say where (for fear that we’d show up, no doubt); and Margie wondered when we’d have Isle Royale Sunrise in stock.
One of the main components to the Isle Royale Sunrise blend is Monteverde Natural. Right now, Monteverde prices are extremely high–Monteverde would retail for $20/pound, and Isle Royale Sunrise would retail for $15/pound. What we find is when prices are that high, demand drops off precipitously (the same applies to Jamaica Blue Mountain and Hawaiian Kona). Since we buy green beans in 150 pound bags, sitting on that much unroasted coffee for months at a time is expensive, so we wait until demand is higher (such as in the summer) or prices drop to more affordable ranges.
That said, if folks place firm orders for about 50 pounds of Isle Royale Sunrise or Monteverde Natural, I’ll have Steve put that on our next order for later in March.
The weather has been great, and lots of snow has fallen. We had a blizzard on Tuesday, and after work I walked the dog in the woods and it was spectacular. More snow is expected this weekend. Unfortunately, we were snow-less and ice-less for the Glen Arbor Winterfest, but the good news is that we won (okay, tied) the Chili Cookoff. Mel’s husband Seth was our cook, and he prepared a dynamite coffee chili–with coffee in it.
Mel and Seth head out on vacation this month, as do John, Jody, and Jackson. All of last month’s travelers returned safely, and Don seemed to enjoy the sights in Florida. Speaking of John, he surprised us by shaving off his beard. Is Steve next?
Since it is March, it only seems right to feature Irish Cream as this month’s coffee. For you, our newsletter friend, we’ll take off $1.00 per pound if you remind us when you call, or type in “March Special” in the Comments box on the internet ordering page. And, with family gatherings for the Holidays at the end of the month, make sure you have plenty of Leelanau Coffee on hand
As always, drop in and see us, send an email, or just give us a call at 800/424-JAVA–we love to hear from our customers!
