As you’ve heard, it has been a crazy winter. From snow, to sunshine, to melting, and back to snow, we’ve experienced quite a cycle. 8” of fresh snow this morning, however, is revitalizing the cross country trails, and The Homestead and Crystal Mountain have been churning out the snow and grooming the slopes, so the skiing is excellent. Right here in town it’s quiet during the week, so we’re all getting reacquainted with the waitresses and bartenders, and on occasion we dawdle in the grocery store line, visiting with the other locals and the cashiers.
Also during the week, our cafe has been more of a library, since Don is in Florida with Mike & Becky, and Doug & Beth are in New Zealand, and Jan & Dan are in Scotland. Of course Ron & Sally and the other snowbirds headed south months ago. Lois has been getting a lot of reading done this week. Andy comes in and plays us a few tunes, and the moms are bringing in their toddlers on Friday mornings.
Weekends are bustling with our skiers and snowmobilers, and so it gets lively for a few days. We’re all looking forward to President’s Weekend, when lots of folks will be skiing, and many will participate in the Glen Arbor Winterfest on Saturday, February 16th. If you planned to register for the chili cookoff, give John Velis a call at 231/334-7700–it’s not too late.
